BTS member RM achieves unprecedented feat by winning the ‘Favorite K-Pop Artist’ award at the 2025 American Music Awards; watch!
On Monday night, the 26th, the 2025 edition of the American Music Awards took place in Las Vegas, United States. Hosted by actress and singer Jennifer Lopez, the event took place after a three-year hiatus and featured several renowned artists from the current music industry, such as Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Bruno Mars, and other Western names. However, it wasn’t just them who stood out, as big names from the world of K-Pop were also honored with statuettes, including the leader of BTS, who achieved an unprecedented feat.
Rapper RM competed for the ‘Favorite K-Pop Artist’ award with his groupmate Jimin, as well as Rosé from BLACKPINK, and the groups ATEEZ and Stray Kids, thus becoming the first South Korean solo artist to win the category.
The singer, who is still serving his mandatory military service, released his second full studio album in 2024, ‘Right Place, Wrong People’, which reached the top of iTunes and Billboard.
In addition to the BTS member, Stray Kids also emerged winners of the edition, with ‘Arcane League Of Legends: Season 2’ winning the ‘Favorite Soundtrack’ award. The JYP Entertainment group released ‘Come Play’ for the series inspired by the game of the same name.
Released on May 24, 2024, ‘Right Place, Wrong People’, affectionately nicknamed by the artist as “RPWP”, has 11 tracks ranging from hip-hop to jazz, punk, R&B to afrobeats, which express the feelings of feeling strange and out of place in the world, the lack of a sense of belonging.
Classified in the alternative genre, RM’s work has a variety of rich arrangements, with honest and direct lyrics, in addition to being available on all digital platforms.
RM is a South Korean rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the leader of the South Korean boy band BTS.
