aespa is set to make a comeback in June! Find out everything SM Entertainment has announced about the girl group’s comeback

IT’S COMING! MYs (the name of the fandom) received confirmation of the long-awaited comeback of aespa through SM Entertainment, the record label that manages the group. After the release of information by JTBC, a South Korean TV channel, about the preparation of the comeback with a release scheduled for next July, the company made a statement.

The representatives of the producer shared in a press release the confirmation of the release of the new album, saying:

“The aespa members are currently busy preparing for their comeback, aiming for a June release,” he reported.

The new release will mark aespa’s return after approximately eight months since the release of the group’s fifth mini-album, ‘Whiplash,’ which hit digital platforms late last year.

About Whiplash:

Announced by SM Entertainment in September 2024, ‘Whiplash’ marked the beginning of aespa’s latest era, officially debuting on October 21, 2024.

Among the album’s tracks, ‘Kill It’ is characterized by “catchy synths” and carrying the message of “expressing the feeling of warning to those who send irrational criticism”, the song is classified as a dance hip-hop, popular in k-pop; ‘Flights, Not Feelings’ fits the rhythms and metrics of R&B, and its lyricism explores “the fun while letting go of bad feelings and living freely”.

The fourth song on the album is ‘Pink Hoodie’, also described as a dance hip-hop but with an “energetic bassline”, it seeks to express a message of the spirituality of self-love, in which the listener accepts themselves and learns to have confidence from there; With alternative R&B guitar riffs, ‘Flowers’ stands out by “comparing the feelings of falling in love to flowers”; while the closing song, ‘Just Another Girl’, is a pop-rock song that seeks to “impart a cautionary lesson to the betrayed lover with a sense of relief.”

‘Whiplash’, besides being the name of the album, also names the single that premiered alongside the MV with a futuristic concept. Check it out!
