Last Wednesday (13), Taylor Swift spoke about her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, during the New Heights podcast.
According to Billboard, she revealed that she wrote the project’s 12 songs during her The Eras world tour and stated that she would travel to Sweden to collaborate with producers Max Martin and Shellback whenever she had a few days off between shows.
“I was so mentally stimulated and excited to create,” she gushed. “[The album is] considerably more upbeat and features a much more fun pop vibe. My main goals were melodies so infectious you almost get mad at them.”
“Writing songs that I’m incredibly proud of,” she continued. “We’ve never produced an album with just the three of us, without other collaborators.” It was like capturing lightning in a bottle. These guys are pure geniuses. It was absolutely incredible to work with them again.
According to the publication, Taylor Swift stated that all 12 songs are “thunderous” and that they describe “what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour.”
It’s important to note that, unlike her previous album, The Tortured Poets Department, Taylor Swift stated on the podcast that Showgirl will not include bonus tracks. “There are no other songs on the way,” she emphasized. “This is the twelfth. There’s no 13th… there are no other songs coming. This is the album I’ve wanted to release for a long time.”

It’s worth noting that on Monday morning (11), the New Heights podcast, hosted by Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce, also an NFL player, announced a “VERY special guest” for Wednesday’s new episode. A teaser on social media indicated that Taylor Swift would be on the show.
“So, I’d like to show you something,” Taylor Swift declared, before showing a blurry image of her new album. “This is my new album, The Life of a Showgirl.” The full album art will be revealed during the New Heights podcast on Wednesday.
Taylor Swift’s 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, was released in April 2024, achieving the biggest debut of her career on the Billboard 200. According to the publication, the album reached the top position for 17 non-consecutive weeks and received a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.
