Singer is a personal friend of the actress and was mentioned in an exchange of messages attached to the lawsuit

Singer Taylor Swift, 35, has been subpoenaed to testify in the ongoing legal battle between actress Blake Lively, 37, and director Justin Baldoni, 41. Swift, a longtime friend of Lively, was first mentioned in connection with the ongoing legal dispute between Lively and her “It Ends With Us” co-star and director when text message exchanges were revealed that included the name “Taylor” as part of a $400 million defamation lawsuit filed by Baldoni against Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds.

One of the text messages included in Baldoni’s lawsuit appears to show a conversation between Baldoni and Lively about the film’s script: “I really love what you did. It really helps. It makes everything so much more fun and interesting. (And I would feel that way without Ryan and Taylor),” Baldoni responded with an emoji. “You truly are a talent in everything you do. So excited and grateful to be doing this together.”

A spokesperson for Swift sent a press release on Friday (9): “Taylor Swift never stepped foot on the set of this film, was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, did not compose the score for the film, never saw an edit or made any notes about the film, nor did she watch ‘It Ends With Us’ until weeks after its public release, and toured the world during 2023 and 2024.”

“Taylor’s connection to this film was to allow the use of the song ‘My Tears Ricochet.’ Given that her involvement was to license a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this subpoena for documents seeks to use Taylor Swift’s name to garner public interest by creating sensationalism to garner clicks, rather than focusing on the facts of the case,” the spokesperson added.

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s legal battle

Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation in a complaint initially filed with the California Department of Civil Rights in December, preceding a lawsuit that followed about a week later. She also alleged that Baldoni, along with his public relations representatives, orchestrated a “campaign of social manipulation” to damage her reputation in the media as they promoted “It Ends With Us,” their 2024 film at the center of the dispute.

In an amended complaint filed in February, Lively alleged that other women had also complained about Baldoni’s behavior on set.

Baldoni has denied the allegations.

Along with Lively, Reynolds is a defendant in the $400 million defamation lawsuit that Baldoni filed in January.

Baldoni accused Reynolds of helping Lively “hijack” his film and end her career. He also alleged that Reynolds, who had no formal role in “It Ends With Us,” rewrote a scene and made “unauthorized script changes in secret.” Baldoni also accused Reynolds of berating him at the couple’s New York home and alleged that Reynolds mocked him in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” mirroring Baldoni’s character Nicepool in an effort to ridicule him. A lawyer for Reynolds has filed a motion to have him removed as a defendant from Baldoni’s lawsuit, saying Baldoni’s argument against Reynolds is baseless and amounts to “hurt feelings.”

The trial is scheduled to take place in March 2026.
