LEARN MORE ABOUT STRAY KIDS:
Stray Kids is a South Korean boy band formed by JYP Entertainment. It consists of eight members: Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. Due to undisclosed personal reasons, Woojin left the group in October 2019. Stray Kids produces their own recordings; the main production team is called 3Racha and consists of Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han, and the other members often participate in songwriting.
Bang Chan selected each member to be part of the group before the filming of the 2017 reality show of the same name, which is unusual in K-pop, where such power typically rests with executives and creative directors. The group released their first unofficial debut extended play (EP), Mixtape, in January 2018, and officially debuted on March 25 with the EP I Am Not, followed by the EPs I Am Who and I Am You, completing the I Am series. The Clé trilogy, consisting of Clé 1: Miroh, Clé 2: Yellow Wood, and Clé: Levanter, was released in 2019.
Their debut studio album, Go Live (2020), became the group’s first project to achieve platinum certification from the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA). That same year, Stray Kids made their Japanese debut with the compilation album SKZ2020, released through Epic Records Japan. Their Japanese debut single, “Top”, debuted atop the Oricon Singles Chart, making the group the fourth foreign male act to achieve the feat with their first single.
In 2021, Stray Kids’ second studio album, Noeasy, became the group’s first to sell over one million copies. After signing with Republic Records for US promotions in 2022, the group released the EPs Oddinary, Maxident (both 2022), Rock-Star (2023), and Ate (2024); their third studio album, 5-Star (2023); and their first mixtape, Hop (2024). These six releases topped the Billboard 200 and entered the UK Albums Chart, making them the first act to debut atop the Billboard 200 with their first six projects sold in the United States. 5-Star made Stray Kids the third group in history to have an album sell over five million units, certified by KMCA. In 2023, the group appeared on Time magazine’s list of Next Generation Leaders. Based on 2024 data, Stray Kids has sold over 31 million albums, counting Korean and Japanese releases.
