This is the New Zealand artist’s first full-length project in 4 years

New Zealand singer Lorde has officially announced the release date for her highly anticipated new album, Virgin: June 27. The information is from Universal Music. The New Zealand artist’s first full-length project in four years promises a bold evolution in Lorde’s sound and the way she tells her stories. The album is now available for pre-order in Brazil through the Umusic Store.

The news comes shortly after the release of the single What Was That, co-produced by Lorde, Jim-E Stack and Dan Nigro. Praised for its raw energy and instant impact, the track offers a powerful preview of the sonic universe that will be explored on Virgin.

What Was That has already made a big impact, reaching number one on Spotify in the US — Lorde’s first number one single on the platform since Royals. It also reached number three in the UK and number five globally, solidifying the singer’s triumphant return to the top of the charts.

The video for What Was That, filmed in New York City — including a surprise performance in Washington Square Park — captures the intimate, spontaneous spirit of this new chapter.
