BTS member releases his third solo single of the year
BTS singer J-Hope has released a new single in partnership with American rapper GloRilla. The song, called ‘Killin’ It Girl, has a music video released this Friday (13) and, there, the two artists are present and have a special guest: a black cat.
In the duet, the singer talks about a love interest and compares her to a cat, saying that the girl is always “killing it”. The singer responds to the BTS member’s verses with words of self-affirmation, stating that she kills it every day.
The visuals, in turn, feature a black cat passing by the idol’s feet. J is lying on the asphalt, while the camera pans over his body until it reaches his head. He turns to the right and then to the left, and we can see several pedestrians crossing the street where he is lying.
Before you think that the black cat could mean bad luck, which is a common belief in Western culture, let us say that perhaps this is not the artist’s message. In South Korea, dark felines do not carry this connotation. Over there, South Koreans believe that such “bad luck” only comes to those who mistreat cats.
Hope gets up and walks through a small market, while dancing, until he falls again. The black cat passes by him once more, but this time the singer is performing a choreography with a group of many men, who soon disperse when he gets into a taxi.
GloRilla appears in the studio, there are scenes of her lying down next to the camera and standing further away with a white light highlighting her presence. Her appearances are mixed with images of the singer inside the car, taking pictures and serving a glass of champagne. Everything is interrupted when the black cat passes in front of the vehicle and forces the driver to brake suddenly, which adds color to the video.
The taxi parks, Hope gets out and reunites with her ballet, which now has women in addition to the men. Together, they perform a breathtaking choreography. When the song ends, the musician falls face down on the ground again and has his path crossed by the black cat one last time.

‘Killin’ It Girl (feat. GloRilla)’ is a hip-hop genre track with an addictive chorus. The clean arrangement, without unnecessary details, further highlights J-Hope’s rhythmic rap. It expresses the overwhelming emotion of falling in love with someone you fell in love with at first sight. The lyrics honestly express the feelings of being instinctively drawn to someone who shines perfectly in every way.
